Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Lembongan Hotels
Nusa Lembongan is one of the 3 islands making up the Nusa Penida chain off the South East Coast of mainland Bali.
Nusa Lembongan offers the most tourist facilities and is a good place to get away from the chaos of Kuta. The island has glorious beaches, excellent surf, numerous dive spots and quiet beaches.
The best time to surf on Lembongan is from late March to October. There are 3 main reef breaks; Shipwreck, Lacerations and Playground.
Divers search for the giant mola mola, a disc shaped fish that grows to 4 feet in diameter. Even if you only snorkel, there are many reefs that are accessible from the beach itself. Otherwise, ask your hotel to organize a snorkeling trip, by boat, to the reefs just off the North Coast of Lembongan.
It takes about 3 hours to do a loop walk around the North of Lembongan. You will pass a lighthouse, seaweed farms, and picturesque ocean vistas.
Most visitors come on a daytrip that are well organized by Quicksilver and Bali Hai Cruises. You will certainly see and hear them from shore. After 4pm, you will have the peace and seclusion to yourself again.
The main town is Jungutbatu, a working village with colorful boats, fishermen and the waroengs selling nasi goring and fried noodles. Mushroom Bay overlooks a beautiful beach and hosts several top end and midpriced hotels.
There is no jetty on Lembongan so be ready to jump in and wade when the boat docks. Much like the Gilis in Lombok.
